My Favourite Healthy Lunch Spots In Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a great city for healthy eaters. It is packed with salad bars, smoothie bars and vegetarian and vegan restaurants. If you are planning to explore the city, but you are afraid your healthy diet will be destroyed by deep fried Dutch goodies – there is nothing to worry!

Favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam

SLA

Ceintuurbaan 149, 1072 GB | Westerstraat 34, 1015 MK, Amsterdam | Claude Debussylaan 35, 1082 MC | Open from Monday to Sunday 8:00 – 21:00.

SLA is a healthy salad bar that offers a great variety of salads, juices, soups, and snacks. It is located at few different places across the city (see above). A bit overpriced, but you can definitely enjoy the food here. I like to make my own salad with all fresh ingredients that are available there. If I feel like having something small, I go for a homemade soup. Price: around 10 euro per salad.

Bagels and Beans

Location: all Bagels and Beans spots can be found here. Open daily from 8:30 to 17:30. Super healthy and yummy cafeteria that serves freshly baked various bagels with veggies, smoked salmon, goat cheese, strawberry jam. There is also a great choice of salads, smoothies, coffees, shakes, cakes and teas. Prices: bagels start from 4 euro, salads costs around 8 euro.

Lite Dark

LITE/DARK Zeedijk 59A | LITE/DARK Utrechtsestraat 22 | open daily from around 8 am to 7 pm.

It’s a juice/chocolatebar that serves powerful organic energy shakes, organic powerballs and bars, salads and healthy cakes. I love indulging here in vitamins and antioxidants and getting energized. Prices: shakes for 4 euro, cakes costs between 2 and 4 euro.

  1. I love the idea of a healthy lunch in Amsterdam if the result is like shown in the photos. Looks really yummie! Unfortunately I’m on the other side of the planet right now ;)

Thanks! This is a great post, and perfect timing as we are heading to Amsterdam in just over a week for a few days. We are always hunting for a good, healthy meal that is also delicious when we are travelling. After a few days of eating out we all begin to feel a bit blah from all the junky quick bites that we’ve eaten.

Hey Andrew! There are a lot of unhealthy eats in Amsterdam too. Like Stroopwafels (syrup wafels), Profferjes (mini pancakes), Pannekoeken (larger crepe-like pancakes), bitterballen (deep fried gravy-like balls), patat/frites (fries), and so on. All yummy, but I don’t think they are called healthy!

I’m a big sweets fan and wrote a post on my favorites. In case you are interested, here you go! https://www.awanderlustforlife.com/dangerous-sweets-amsterdam/

I’ve only been to 1 out of 3! I think this is saying that I need to eat healthier…which is true. Especially since there’s a Sla so close! Of course Bagels and Beans is always a favorite. Of course I’m a bagel–not a bean–fan. But the yogurts are super delish as well!

Oh I love that it’s easy to find vegetarian friendly food there, too! Not true for some countries I’ve visited…unless you just eat the same veggies and steamed rice over and over again!;-)
