20 Reasons Why You Should Choose To Visit Crete This Summer

Crete is more like a small country than another Greek island. It welcomes every visitor with the remnants of brilliant civilizations, breath-taking mountainscapes, fertile valleys, steep gorges and glorious beaches.

I had this opportunity to spend nearly a week in this small universe teeming with beauties and treasures and… I fell in love with it. Here are my 25 reasons why I found this Greek island one of the most unforgettable and precious:

1. Because the water is crystal clear.

  1. Stefania @The Italian Backpacker

These are excellent reasons to go to Crete, and they are all true! Next time I’m in Crete I’d like to visit the beaches of Preveli and Elafonissi.

  2. Micamyx|Senyorita

Aside from Santorini, I am also interested in visiting Crete and do a side trip to Spinalonga after reading the novel “The Island” :)

  3. Oh, that coffee looks fantastic! I’ve been wanting to visit Crete for years. So far, I’ve made it to Kos (which was great), but you’ve convinced me Crete is the place to go :)

Happy to hear that. I loved Greek coffees, not too strong, always served iced cold! Perfect for sunny days.

  4. So pretty! Crete looks amazing. I think I could probably live off of that greek salad and iced coffee. And the Venetian lagoon really does remind me of the docks and water off of Venice, especially the island of Murano!

  5. Marysia @ My Travel Affairs

Ha ha ha you got me! I’m officially sold, and when I got to number 16 I have booked my tickets ha ha ha Greece here I come in May!

  6. I read a book once that was set in Greece and Crete especially. The way Crete was described made me want to go so bad (I have a travelers heart but have yet to do so) and looking at your photos, I cannot believe that the book and your pics are almost identical! I am SO going!!!

  7. Hi Agness, I hope you are doing well in Greece & came to know here that what is the reason that twenty which inspires us to visit there. I have read one by one and felt that It is no less than paradise. Great work!!

  8. Jessica - Notes of Nomads

Looks picture-perfect, Agness. Have always wanted to go to the Greek Islands – well, who doesn’t?! You make Crete seem like the perfect choice! :)

  9. Crete has a dark side. Excessively racist towards certain ethnic groups, promoted by the authorities.

  10. Tonka Mestrovic

Looks liek paradise. However, true mediterranean feeling can be experienced on Croatian coast and islands of Hvar and Brac.

  11. This looks fantastic. I have never been there yet but I would love to discover probably soon. It looks like a great area to enjoy and have some fun. :)
