Plans for Koh Samui

Ko Samui reunion

Me and Cez again ended up in one place, this time it’s Koh Samui, an island off the East Coast of the Kra Isthmus in inspiring Thailand.

What brought us here? Work for me as Poki company I’m currently working in has moved its office from Amsterdam to Koh Samui for 3 weeks. As for Cez, he took some time off to have a little break during his travel and teaching adventures in China.

We are both staying here for 3 weeks from January 2nd to January 23rd working, exploring the island, trying local dishes and enjoying local beaches. A big part of our daily routine plays fresh coconuts and riding a scooter. You probably don’t have an idea how much fun it can be!

Beach time.

Koh Samui is an island where you certainly can’t get bored. It hosts a great deal of natural and man-made attractions that every visitor can experience – Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, stunning waterfalls or, for example, Ang Thong Marine National Park.

So much green around us.

Moreover, there isn’t a better place to eat healthy. The island offers freshly squeezed juices (oranges are our favourite), grilled meat and fish and plenty of salads served with cashews, peanuts and some beautiful flowers.

Plus, you will find here the most beautiful villas that could be a perfect fit for a honeymoon lovers!

Things we want to see and experience

Koh Samui has a lot to offer, not only the stunning beaches.

Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks

These two rocks resemble male and female body parts, which we normally don’t show to other people. These rocks formed naturally, and funnily enough, just so it happens they are very closely located. We’ll go there to take some photos (I doubt our photos will be original, given the sheer number of people doing it every day).

Waterfalls

There’s a number of beautiful waterfalls on Samui island. We plan to visit Na Mueang, Lat Wanon, Tan Rua, and hopefully few others. We might take one day out just for the waterfalls around the island to create a beautiful gallery for you guys.

Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai)

There is a huge Buddha statue just off the coast. We can see it nearly every day passing by on the scooter, but we haven’t been in yet to have a proper look and take photos. Something we’ll do very shortly.

Ang Thong National Marine Park

Translated as “golden bowl”, is an area of the sea densely populated by little islands, most of which are not inhabited by humans. It’s a National Park, so its flora and fauna are much better preserved than other places around Koh Samui, and it makes for an amazing experience. We’re going to visit the Park with one of the tourist boats, so we will also experience some snorkeling (can’t wait)

What’s next after Koh Samui?

No, we are not going to be lazy.

In exactly 2 weeks we are off to Burma, Malaysia, Nepal, and India. We are planning quick visits in few small and big cities in each countries (planning still in progress) so if you guys are around, feel free to drop us a line. We will be updating our location daily via Facebook and it would be lovely to have a drink or dinner together.

For now we are enjoying the Thai sun and look forward to further exploring the island!
