One of the most famous temples is the Temple of the Golden Pavilion – Kinkaku-ji that attracts the largest number of tourists each day.

Kyoto as a city is very rich in traditions and Buddhist religion. It’s incredibly colorful.

The most recognizable building in all of Kyoto is mentioned previously Kinkaku-ji (the Temple of the Golden Pavilion). Did you know that the top two levels of the three-level temple are covered in pure gold leaf? The temple, together with its reflection in the pond in front of it, make for a truly breathtaking view!

If you ask nicely, you can take a picture with someone wearing kimono. There are also many places where you can rent one yourself (also available for men).

Those candles with Japanese writing on them! That’s cool. What can a city do with over 100 temples? Do they all have the same purpose?

I would definitely go to Kyoto! It’s been on my bucketlist for years so I will visit one of these days :) Japan is known for being an expensive country to travel – did you find it difficult to stay on budget?

We spent around 40-50 euro per person including transportation, food and all attractions. Still not that bad, but yes… we found Japan a bit challenging to travel below $25 a day. It would be possible sometimes and we achieved it, but in overall not.

These photos are beautiful, Agness. When I visit Japan one day, I will definitely include Kyoto and the Temple of the Golden Pavilion into my itinerary. My parents have also been to Kyoto and told me how beautiful it is. They have a photo of the Temple of the Golden Pavilion in their living room. The fact that the two top levels are covered in pure gold leafs reminds me of the reminds me of the Golden Temple in Amritsar in Northern India.

These photos are gorgeous!! Japan has been on my “places to travel” list for a really long time, and this post inspired some major wanderlust :) Have you visited a cat cafe? I’ve read that there’s a well-known one in Kyoto =^..^=
