Postcards From Lisbon

Majestic monasteries, Gothic cathedrals and quaint museums – real delights of discovery lie in wandering the narrow lanes of Lisbon’s charming backstreets.

Before my travels through Poland this summer, I finally made it to beautiful Portugal. This time the food was not my main focus, but the scenery, landscape and narrow streets of Lisbon.

I felt so blessed being in Lisbon – Europe’s second-oldest capital and home to the world’s greatest explorers like Vasco da Gama.

Since I was a little girl, I wanted to stroll down the streets of Lisbon and capture the moments of local life.

Lisbon is a true world city and it’s one of the most historical cities I have ever had a chance to discover.

It has characteristic and surprising sight and stunning cultural treasures.

What I love the most about Lisbon is its beautiful setting that make it a paradise for walkers and wanna-be photographers like me.

Its mild climate and sunny weather made my stay here even more unforgettable.

It was lovely to observe bright yellow trams wind their way through curvy tree-lined streets.

Lisboêtas stroll through the old quarters…

Lisbon’s surroundings offer an incredible variety of tourist attractions. It has everything I could ever wish for – fairytale city center, delicious food and always smiling Portuguese who take everything easy.

Lisbon is so colorful and bright. It is filled with romance, love and happiness.

It simple left me speechless…

Judging by these postcards, how beautiful do you find Lisbon?

  1. I think you convinced me to slot this place in next time I’m in Europe on a press trip … just stunning photographs guys!

  2. Great photos, Agness! It’s been more than 10 years since I’ve visited the land of my birth, but it’s good to know it still looks lovely. But do you wanna know what I miss the most in those photos? The tiny bread squares with bacon and cheese (the bread is called “fogaça”). It’s the small things in life… (literally!) Good luck!

  3. Great photos! My husband was fortunate enough to go to Portugal for work but I’ve never been. I love the colors! Greetings from the Outer Banks, North Carolina – one of our favorite USA beaches. ;-)

  4. I’m so happy you enjoyed your time in Lisbon, Agness! It is seriously one of my favorite places in the world. I spent a week there with my mom and we completely fell in love with the place. Would love to go back with my husband!!

  5. Very beautiful city, indeed… one of my favourites in Europe.
There are lots and lots of beautiful postcards available in Lisbon. I bought a bunch.
Alfama and Bairro Alto are among the top best places for wandering by foot and photographing…

  6. Wow! Awesome photos Agness… Portugal isn’t nearly as traveled or hyped as a lot of countries in Europe, but you done an incredible job making it look spectacular. I can’t wait to see for myself one of these days :)

Love how colorful it is in Lisbon! Portugal has been on my list for a while but you just showed me more reasons to go.

  8. Hi Agness,

I have to agree fully on the lovely setting. Lisbon looks beautiful, from the deep, dark blue skies, to the clean air, to the architecture. Amazing images. The deep blue skies remind me so much of here in Fiji; gorgeous, nature at its finest. The food looks delicious too. I imagine they are heavy on the seafood in those parts.

I’ll add it to my list. It looks so beautiful, and since my fiancee and I love strolling through whatever hot spot we’re visiting, being walking junkies, there seems to be no finer place to visit and to stroll through at a leisurely pace.

    Thanks so much Agness.

  9. I feel like I’m retracing my footsteps through your photos! We visited a lot of the same places. I loved the lookout point over Alfama (in your first photo!) :)

  10. Lovely pictures! I would love to visit Lisbon as the food and environment look really amazing. Maybe I’d go to the places you’ve gone too. :D

  11. Craig from New England

Beautiful pictures! Lisbon is (hopefully) next on the list for vacation destinations. I can’t wait to check it out

  12. Those are really great impressions of Lisbon, Agness! I personally liked the city a lot, especially the colorfully tiled houses and the little cafes, serving freshly baked Pastel de Nata. Thanks for really making me want to go back to Portugal… :)

  13. We absolutely loved Lisbon and looking over these wonderful images just brought it all back. We ended up getting some of those paintings as well as some tiles from lovely young woman just out of art school. There is so much to this city and views everywhere you look! It was our first overseas trip as a couple by ourselves and was a great place to explore and also what is great is it doesn’t feel too touristy either!

  14. I think Portugal has some of my favorite cities, Lisbon is so colourful and I generally found it very friendly. I hope you get to go back one day soon.

  15. It’s great to look at your pictures now and think “oh yeah, I know where that is” after my trip there the other week. You were totally correct about what an awesome city it is too. I had an amazing time – although with slightly worse weather I think ha!
