Hanoi in Photos and Travel Update

Hey guys, long time no see. Today I’d like to share with you photos from Hanoi and tell you about my and my girlfriend’s plans for upcoming travels.

Cez and Amy in Hanoi

Amy and I are currently in the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi. We have already been to a few museums, a lot of restaurants and walked countless little streets. Below’s a glimpse of what we’ve seen up to now.

Travel plans for February 2015

Thanks to the long celebration of Lunar New Year in China, I’m off work for the whole February. Although initially we wanted to visit only Hanoi for few days, once here, we found a cheap flight to Ho Chi Minh City (cheaper than the bus ride) and we had to take advantage of this. We then realized that it would be so close to Cambodia, that it would be a shame not to take this opportunity and see what the Kingdom of Cambodia has to offer (and how it has changed since my last visit). Our Vietnamese visas are single entry, which forces us to go back to China through Laos, which I’m sure we’ll enjoy. Therefore, in February, we will travel through Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Do you have any recommendations as to what not to miss in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos? Are you going to be there and would like to meet up? Leave a comment below.

I’m always positive and never bored – there’s just so much more to see and experience! I began my journey around the world in 2011 with just $400 and one-way ticket to Asia. Still going and blogging today. You can typically spot me working on a laptop or rock climbing.

I have just been to Vietnam with my boyfriend in November and December and we are both still absolutely thrilled. We have been to Hanoi, Sapa, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City and absolutely loved every place; only Ho Chi Minh City was a place we were glad to leave after two days there. In Laos I would highly suggest to travel by slow boat on the Mekong from Houay Xai to Luang Prabang and to visit Vang Vieng and Vientiane as well.

Hi Cez! I’m so jazzed for you and Amy! I loved the vintage, nostalgic war sites and displays, my friend! Continue to have a great time and be safe always please :)

Wow! Is there going to be one whole month off due to the New Year in China? Or it’s you to have such a long holiday? We have a 13 day holiday every year in Noruz, Iranian New Year, and I thought it’s a long time for having a holiday.

Congrats on finding what was once called the “Pearl of the Orient”. I’ve had a love affair with Viet Nam for four decades and will finally be living there permanently in July. In Hanoi, the old quarter and lots of walking make a great few days for the thousand year old city. The weather is much better than HCM.

Ho Chi Minh has an interesting War Museum and a few hot spots: The Rex and Continental Hotels are near each other in District 1. Suoi Tien Park is way down in Distict 11 but a fun day of strolling. The National Art museum isn’t great but the surrounding artisans and galleries are worth exploring for Viet artists.

I’ll be watching to get your take on Cambodia and Thailand. I’ve been living in Thailand since 2008 but ready to get out. Viet Nam here we come.

Vietnam is amazing. You’ll have a great time. Recommendations: take an overnight river cruise on the Mekong River, experience a round boat thing organised by local fisher people(thuyen thung), go to Hoi An for tailoring and yummy French cake, and Da Nang to see the Crazy House! Make sure that you experience the water puppets, and eat lots and lots of Pho!

I’m glad you’re having a great time! My suggestions for Vietnam would be Hue and Hoi An. Hue has an ancient walled city which is incredibly beautiful. I’m sure you’ve had plenty of coffee! I miss it!

This is proof that pictures speak a thousand words. Be safe and be sure to keep us updated with plenty more. Vietnam is SUCH a gorgeous place, glad you’re getting to see so much of it and share it with those of us still at home and waiting!
