Utrecht is the lively, beating heart of the Netherlands. Build around the Dom tower, it’s a stunning travel destination I really enjoyed.
Utrecht boasts beautiful canals with extraordinary wharf cellars housing cafés and terraces by the water.
As well as the Dom tower, Utrecht boasts hundreds of other monuments that each contribute to the special atmosphere in this centuries-old university town.
The city centre is small enough to explore on foot but big enough to entertain you for days with art and culture.
When you stroll down the streets of Utrecht at night, you can see its stunning and flashy canals surrounded by bikes and cafés.
Utrecht is a place that makes smiles. It’s the smallest of The Netherand’s four cities and locals refer to it as “The Village”, a nickname that the city embodies.
Cobbled streets and medieval architecture along two-tiered canal ways create a recipe of charming delight.
Would you like to walk across Utrecht at night?

My visit to Holland a decade ago was only to Amsterdam and since I’ve met many folks from Utrecht, so I would love to go and see it with them – seeing a city through a local’s eyes are the best way to explore!
!!:)
Oh absolutely I would take this night walk, Agness! I love you including the b & w photos again :) That shot of the bike leaning against the rail over the canal is absolutely awesome…great job! Have a great day! :)
:) Thanks!! x
Wow! Looks like a cute city!
It is, totally!
I didn’t spend much time there at night (after all my favourite house was only open in the day) but it looks just as good! I liked how the street and canal levels were different, and that you could dine on the latter.
It’s wonderful!
Whenever I’m in The Netherlands I love exploring the little villages and towns it has to offer. I think this small city of Utrecht should be on my next visit list. It epitomises all that I love about the country.
We have something in common then!! :)
Hi Agness,
Yes, I’d definitely love to walk around Utretch at night. It looks very atmospheric and really charming. You did a great job presenting the city. Lovely choice of shots. I hope to visit “the village” next time I’m in Netherlands.
Definitely!
Love this style of photography journey. I’ve thought about doing one for my cities at night…. maybe in the new year :)
I love that locals refer to Utrecht as “the village.” It makes it seem even more charming! I would definitely love to visit!
Yeah, it’s so funny sometimes, but true as well.
Utrecht Rocks. I used to spend a lot of time here. Really good vibe.
