Life seems to be much better on the beach, right?
Today’s post is all the palm trees, coconuts, golden sand and crystal clear sky. We are taking you to Alona beach, a small stretch of tropical paradise on Panglao Island, Bohol in the Philippines.
Alona beach is becoming one of the top travel destinations in the Philippines at breath-taking speed because of it’s wonderful white sand beach, world class diving and beautiful blue waters.
Alona Beach is easy to get to and is a must-see while you are in the Philippines and it is an ideal base for exploring Bohol.
Alona Beach is about 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) long. Many of Bohol’s restaurants and activities are centered on Alona Beach. This patch of tropical bliss is surrounded with palm trees that veer towards the crystal clear waters.
There are rocky cliffs on both ends of the beach, and some excellent snorkeling or diving within swimming distance from the beach.
Just to give you a quick overview of Panglao itself, it is a fourth class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines, 18 kilometres (11 miles) from Tagbilaran City.
The beach looks the best in the morning around 5.30 am when you can experience one of the most amazing sunrises.
Panglao is known for its diving locations and tourist resorts.
Panglao is renowned for snorkeling and dive sites such as Doljo Beach, Garden Eels, Arco Point, Kalipayan, Napaling, and Puntod.
How do you like the beach? Would you spend here a couple of days or more?

This looks like a wonderful spot for some R+R.
I especially like the photos at 5:30 in the morning with the one boat anchored by the beach.
It does look very busy with boats later in the day though. I hope it doesn’t become too crowded.
We woke up very early to capture the scenery in the morning. Totally worth it!
Looks like fun :) I have never seen a starfish before!
It was my first time as well! It was moving and I was freaking out!!
Oh gosh yes we would love to spend time on the beach, Agness! Your pictures are absolutely terrific by the way. That would be so much fun…well, until Phoenix started stealing the fisherman’s gear and hats! :)
LOL!
meanwhile its raining outside my window and I have to walk to work… these photos just make me jealous!
I’m so sorry for you… :P :-P
Beautiful, could do with some beach time right now!
Me too! Missing this place a lot these days… :)
I was going to say the same thing as the comment above me said- I loved the early morning photo especially. The entire post is loaded with great photos. Didn’t know that was on your travel itinerary.
Thank you!!
Errrm yes, I wouldn’t mind spending a couple of hours there! It looks pretty nice! It already seems ages ago since I was last at a beach but it was only a couple of months ago. I think, since moving to Beijing, I’ve been obsessed with looking at blue skies and blue water… At least we have beautiful blue skies here today.
It’s freezing cold here in Dongguan, China, so I’m jealous! Enjoy Beijing!
I have wanted to go to the Philippines for a while since a best friend of mine is from there. Those beach shots are definitely calling me!!
Emily, you have to make it there. Alona is great, but there are also other, even more beautiful, beaches there!!
Brilliant post, I like beaches exactly as you described! The captures make me want to go there, its a beautiful place. Not too crowded, which is a plus :)
Thanks Arti!
What a beautiful collection of beach scenes! I’ve never heard of Alona Beach but it looks very lovely. I’m an island girl so I can spend hours at the beach. Love the starfish photo!
We truly loved this place, Mary! Starfish was amazing. My first time to see it!
Gorgeous pictures!! I love the ones of the flowers and the starfish :)
Thanks Tim a lot!
I’m not a big beach person, I mean I like walking and watching the sea, but I get bored if I have to sunbath. These places are fantastic and I’d definitely spend some time there watching the waves :)
Franca, we’re in the same team. I love to walk around and swim a lot, but sunbathing is way too booooring for me!
Looks so calm and tranquil out there! Would definitely like to visit Philippines to see its beautiful islands and beaches!
Yes, it was a very quiet beach, not many tourists around.
I’m not really into sunbathing but if I’m going to then it’ll be in Southeast Asia! The Philippines has so many beautiful beaches but I’ve never heard of this one! Thanks for introducing me to somewhere new!
Hi Shing,
We travelled a lot in Southeast Asia and we fell in love with Koh Phangan Island, but Alona beach… can’t compare it to anything!
You have to!
It looks so pretty and peaceful! And that starfish is amazing!! I hope to visit the Philippines the next time I’m in Asia!
It is, you definitely need to make it there soon!
Spent a week there about a year ago and had a blast.
Looks amazing! Such a slice of paradise. Shows how great (and often strangely overlooked) the Philippines really is.
Beautiful photos! My favorite is the one of the starfish :)
Oh, I’m so jealous!! You were saying how much you missed the snow, but now you’ve got me missing the coast! I’ve never been to the Philippines, but Alona Beach looks incredible in your photos!
I miss the coast a lot these days since I am back in China. It’s been foggy and rainy brrrrr!!
